Strategic Planning for Your Volunteer Program

San Antonio Area Foundation, 303 Pearl Parkway, Suite 114, 78215

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Participants in this session will learn to develop the basic outline of a strategic plan for the volunteer program by determining how the program fits into the overall strategic plan of the nonprofit.

Managing a volunteer program takes strategic thinking as well as strategy. The Manager of Volunteer Resources needs to be able to strategically tie the volunteer program to the goals of the nonprofit. To do this, the Manager should consider the internal and external factors facing the volunteer program. They also need to consider the outcomes and results the program will produce.

If possible, participants should bring their nonprofit’s strategic plan that has a mission statement, vision statement, and priorities/goals/objectives/strategic initiatives*.

*Please note these terms are often used interchangeably in a strategic plan.
