Nonprofit leaders graduate from advanced USAA leadership class

 

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 15, 2019) – Congratulations to the first cohort of graduates from the USAA Senior Executive Leadership Program.

The program, a partnership between the Area Foundation and USAA, fills the gap in advanced leadership training for nonprofits by offering a nine-month rigorous course.

Fellows studied topics including performance excellence, behavioral styles, emotional intelligence, employee coaching, crucial conversations, managing change, and systematic problem-solving. 

The leadership program’s design is guided by two findings from the Area Foundation’s research:

  • A cohort model is highly valued to reduce isolation among senior leaders and create a network who can support them in their role.
  • A gap exists in providing more advanced leadership development for CEOs and other senior leaders.

Participants put into practice what they learned in each session through peer learning and training with experts to equip them for real-time challenges and opportunities.
