Strengthening Nonprofits Initiative

The Area Foundation is building capacity in the nonprofit community through our Strengthening Nonprofits Initiative.

Launched in 2011, the Strengthening Nonprofits Initiative is a targeted grant making effort designed to increase the effectiveness of nonprofits so they can better achieve their missions.

Temporary Suspension

The San Antonio Area Foundation is temporarily suspending Strengthening Nonprofits (SNP) Grantmaking—Phase I and Phase II until further notice.  The decision was made based on two reasons.

  1. The Area Foundation is hiring a new VP of Community Engagement and Impact and a new Director of Capacity Building, who will evaluate the grantmaking structure and process.
  2. The TCC Group—the organization that administers the Core Competency Assessment Tool (CCAT)—is revamping the CCAT with plans to launch a new version in March 2018. Continuing with the CCAT will also be evaluated by the new VP of Engagement and impact and the new Director of Capacity Building.

We will continue to keep you updated about this decision through our website at saafdn.org. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Gavin Nichols, 210.242.4720.
