This class is designed for those who seek to increase their effectiveness in the field of grant writing and grant management.  The workshop will provide a review of components of a grant, share techniques to gather and use statistics, learn about the opportunities for private and public grants, discuss the creation of logic models, and the scoring and evaluation systems used in grant decisions.

 After completing this workshop, participants will be able to:
•    Know the components of a grant request; 
•    Learn how to read and interpret application guidelines;
•    Learn how to use data and statistics to strengthen the grant application; 
•    Identify private and public grant resource opportunities;
•    Learn differences between the private and public grant application process;
•    Highlight use of surveys or community needs assessments;
•    Develop realistic budgets;
•    Learn how to create and use logic statements; and 
•    Understand how private and federal grants are evaluated.

This workshop is included in our Nonprofit Management Certification series and fulfills six hours in the Fundraising competency area.

Cost:  $125.00

REFUND/CREDIT POLICY: The San Antonio Area Foundation has a no refund policy. If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. If a registrant is unable to attend a workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent or a credit may be issued. No credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.

Meet the Presenter:

Rose Mary Fry is a native of Ohio and she received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Ohio Dominican College and a graduate degree in Staff and Organizational Development from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.  She has thirty-five years experience in the education, nonprofit, and for profit sectors.  Since September, 2010, she has worked as a nonprofit consultant focusing on training and consulting services to new and established nonprofit organizations. Her previous position was as founding Executive Director of the Texas Nonprofit Management Assistance Network, a 501(c)(3) organization that helped identify and meet the needs of Texas nonprofits through work with nonprofit resource centers and academic providers in Texas.  Previously, she was Executive Director of the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas in San Antonio, the oldest resource center in the state.

Rose Mary's special interests are organizational change, the intersection of the nonprofit and for profit worlds, and facilitation of small and large group meetings.  She has been involved in the nonprofit sector as a volunteer for approximately thirty-three years with particular interest in the arts, education, and women and children’s issues.  She was the first Licensed Consultant for the Standards for Excellence program in Texas, and she is the only Licensed Consultant with this credential in the state.
