Description:

Strategically planning any program within a nonprofit means ensuring the program augments and complements the overall mission, vision, and priorities for the organization.

Strategic planning is a process that leads a nonprofit from where it is today to where it wants to be tomorrow. The ability to understand how a volunteer program can augment and complement the nonprofit on its journey is critical. This class will examine the path that a volunteer program can follow that will lead to goals and help the nonprofit into the future. A four-phase process will be examined as well as the elements happening in and around the nonprofit that will impact the volunteer program.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the differences and relationships between strategic planning, strategic thinking, and operations.
  • Develop an understanding of the relationship between the volunteer program and the goals of the nonprofit.
  • Construct concrete goals for the volunteer program.

Who should attend?
Nonprofit paid and volunteer staff and board members who want to strategically consider the direction for their volunteer program.

This class is included in our Nonprofit Management Certification series and fulfills three hours in the Managing Staff and Volunteers competency area.

Cost:  $75.00
