Description:

Small and mid-level donors are very important to any fundraising program, but one significant major gift can be transformational for an organization.

There are no ruby slippers ready and waiting to be clicked with a wish when it comes to major gifts and it is quite rare for nonprofits to just stumble on one of those transformational gifts.
But, with the right plan and program, raising major gifts is a reasonable aspiration.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Use their organization’s mission to motivate volunteers and secure leadership support
  • Develop an organizational vision for major gifts
  • Organize a major gifts program
  • Help volunteers overcome their resistance to asking for gifts
  • Respond to objections
  • Define the roles of board and staff in major gift fundraising
