The Panel on the Nonprofit Sector, convened by Independent Sector and supported by BoardSource, developed “Principles for Good Governance and Ethical Practice” in 2007.  They identified 33 principles designed to guide board members and staff professionals of charitable organizations as they work to improve their own operations.  The San Antonio Area Foundation is presenting these 33 principles over four sessions to be held quarterly throughout the year.  The “Responsible Fundraising” session will cover seven principles related to building donor support and confidence in the soliciting of funds.

What the workshop will cover:

  • Accuracy and Truthfulness of Fundraising Materials
  • Compliance with Donor Intent
  • Acknowledgement of Tax-Deductible Contributions
  • Gift Acceptance Policies
  • Oversight of Fundraisers
  • Fundraiser Compensation
  • Donor Privacy

This workshop is included in our Nonprofit Management Certification series and fulfills three hours in the Nonprofit Governance or Fundraising competency areas.
