  • Board Principles Series
    We host a quarterly series of training sessions focused on board members, based on the 33 principles designed to guide board members developed by The Panel on the Nonprofit Sector.   • Board Day - September 28, 2017
    Board Day is an in-depth, one-day conference to provide nonprofit and foundation board members the tools to lead their organizations to achieve maximum impact. The goal is to increase the effectiveness of nonprofits by enhancing their board governance. BoardSource supports a community of more than 90,000 individuals with customized diagnostics, live and virtual trainings, membership programs, and a comprehensive library of governance resources and publications that include original content. BoardSource is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Idealist.org - General Nonprofit Board Information
Idealist.org is a resource database with volunteer opportunities, nonprofit jobs, internships, and organizations working to change the world.

National Council of Nonprofits - Boards and Governance
A resource and advocate for America’s charitable nonprofits. Through their network of State Associations and 25,000-plus members, the Council serves as a central coordinator and mobilizer to help nonprofits achieve greater collective impact in local communities across the country. CompassPoint - www.compasspoint.org- CompassPoint is an electronic newsletter for members of nonprofit boards of directors. Board Café offers a menu of ideas, information, opinion, news, and resources to help board members in carrying out the responsibilities of their board service.

Governance Matters
An organization whose purpose is to encourage and promote good governance in the nonprofit sector. Its web site posts information on good governance, links to other sites of interest to not-for-profit boards and information about courses and conferences for nonprofit board members.

Texas Nonprofits
Texas Nonprofits (TXNP) strengthens Texas communities by providing up-to-date data and other resources and support via the Internet to help build stronger and bigger nonprofits that can perform and operate professionally, efficiently, and with greater accountability; TXNP also strives to facilitate and encourage connections between charitable causes and potential contributors.

Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance
The BBB publishes standards for not-for-profit organizations that are used in its evaluations of charities and which are posted on its web site. The standards address issues such as governance, financial accounting, program efficiency and public disclosure. The web site also contains guidelines for implementation of the standards.

Charity Navigator
Charity Navigator rates organizations that solicit the public and provides information to prospective donors.

GuideStar
GuideStar is a national database of that posts financial reports and other information on over 850,000 tax-exempt U.S. charitable organizations on its web site. It is a source of information about the operations and finances of nonprofit organizations.
