Nonprofit Management Certificate Programs

Choose from a series of focused, in-depth trainings that will culminate in earning a Nonprofit Management Certification in one of three areas: general nonprofit management, fundraising and leadership development.

The San Antonio Area Foundation, in partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) School of Business and Leadership, offers deeper and more comprehensive learning built around seven core nonprofit capacities: organizational management, leadership management, fundraising, marketing and communications, financial management, governance, and staff, volunteer and board management.

Workshops are held at the Area Foundation office and classes are led by Area Foundation approved trainers or by OLLU faculty from the School of Business and Leadership. Each self-paced certificate program can be completed in one year or less, although participants will have up to two years to complete the program if preferred.

Each certificate program requires at least 36 hours of study (typically 12, three-hour workshops) which have been determined by the Area Foundation and OLLU to thoroughly cover each subject. While some workshops are required, there are others that are elective, allowing you the flexibility to tailor the program to your professional needs and experience.

The chart below outlines the required number of training hours in each of the seven core competencies, depending on the type of certificate you are seeking. Workshop sessions are generally three or six hours in length.
