Join us for the second of three lunch n'learns as we examine common forms of professional writing.


In this course, participants will review the fundamentals of effective communication, and then explore key examples of professional writing common to any organization, including presentations, reports, responses to complaints, thank you notes, and more. Each example will feature best practices as well as successful and unsuccessful iterations. The course will end with a focus on email etiquette and management.

  • Best practices for a wide variety of common writing needs
  • How to keep email correspondence professional, courteous, and organized

Meet our Presenter:Leigh Baldwin is a communications consultant specializing in helping individuals and organizations find their voice and share their message, easily and effectively. Baldwin brings 20 years of diverse experience – including writing, editing, teaching, brand positioning, strategic planning, crisis response, and community outreach – together to demystify the communications process.

Baldwin has directed communications for non-profits including the Southwest School of Art, written for the San Antonio Current and San Antonio Woman, and taught writing and literature at the University of the Incarnate Word and San Antonio College. She has an MA in English from the University of Kentucky. As a volunteer, she serves as co-chair of PechaKucha San Antonio, a quarterly lecture series, and teaches English as a Second Language in the community.

REFUND/CREDIT POLICY: The San Antonio Area Foundation has a strict no refund policy.  If the registrant is not able to attend the workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent. If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.
