Join us for the third and final session of the professional writing series of lunch n'learns. We'll examine the writing process to organize your thoughts, relieve writing anxiety, and master longer documents.


In this course, participants will review the fundamentals of effective communication, and then explore the writing process from beginning to end – from brainstorming to revision. Completing this process thoughtfully will help organize information, clarify objectives, strengthen arguments, develop persuasive descriptions, and take the stress out of writing.

Learning Objectives: 

Participants will learn:

  • Each step in the writing process
  • How to recognize and address weaknesses in your organization or argument
  • What to do when they feel blocked or uncreative

Who should take this class? 

Anyone who would like to improve their written communication.

Cost:  $30 - a light lunch will be served

Meet our Presenter:

Leigh Baldwin is a communications consultant specializing in helping individuals and organizations find their voice and share their message, easily and effectively. Baldwin brings 20 years of diverse experience – including writing, editing, teaching, brand positioning, strategic planning, crisis response, and community outreach – together to demystify the communications process. 

Baldwin has directed communications for non-profits including the Southwest School of Art, written for the San Antonio Current and San Antonio Woman, and taught writing and literature at the University of the Incarnate Word and San Antonio College. She has an MA in English from the University of Kentucky. As a volunteer, she serves as co-chair of PechaKucha San Antonio, a quarterly lecture series, and teaches English as a Second Language in the community.

REFUND/CREDIT POLICY: The San Antonio Area Foundation has a strict no refund policy.  If the registrant is not able to attend the workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent. If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.
