This course incorporates the latest research on ethical or conscious leadership and its historical context to understand its impact on employees and organizational performance.

We will review the conceptual underpinnings of ethical leadership and identify how leaders within nonprofit organizations can lead more ethically, benefiting their employees and their organizations.  We incorporate the book, Conscious Capitalism, into this course and identify how its strategies can be translated to the nonprofit sector.  The remainder of this workshop involves the evaluation of ethical leadership case studies so that participants can review specific examples of ethical dilemmas and together identify how ethical leadership can be modeled in these complex and difficult situations that many leaders face.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the key components of ethical or conscious leadership and its impact on employees and organizations
  • Identify behaviors that promote or inhibit ethical behavior within an organization
  • Share strategies for managing and leading ethically.
  • Build experience by analyzing ethical dilemma case studies, identifying what ethical leadership behaviors can be used to handle these difficult situations
