Overview

This course will provide basic steps in developing, implementing and executing an effective budgeting process for nonprofit organizations.

Description

An annual budget is a planning tool that helps nonprofit organizations develop short-term financial plans to reflect and reach long-term financial goals related to the organization’s programs, mission and strategic plan. 

Learning Objectives:

  • What a budget is and why budgeting is important to a nonprofit organization
  • How to create an effective budget
  • How to use your budget as a tool

Who should take this class?

Nonprofit Board Members, Finance Committee Members, CEOs/Executive Directors, CFOs/Finance Directors, Controllers, and any other nonprofit accounting/finance staff who assist in preparing financial information

This workshop is included in our Nonprofit Management Certification series and fulfills three hours in the Financial Management competency area.

Cost:  $60.00

REFUND/CREDIT POLICY: The San Antonio Area Foundation has a no refund policy. If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. If a registrant is unable to attend a workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent or a credit may be issued. No credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.

Meet our Presenter:
 


Chris Carmona, CPA, is a founding partner of Schriver, Carmona & Company. Chris’ experience includes leading and supervising the audits of several nonprofit entities, including nonprofits requiring single audits as specified in OMB Circular A-133, and commercial entities.  Chris received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs.  He serves on the board and resource committee of Guide Dogs of Texas, on the board and finance committee of KIPP San Antonio Public Schools, on the finance council of St. Matthew Catholic Church, on the advisory board of The Big Give SA, and on the business advisory committee of The Nonprofit Council.
