HOLT Fellows Program

Inspiring, Mentoring and Sustaining Nonprofit Executives.

HOLT Values-Based Leadership™ Fellows Program

The HOLT Values-Based Leadership™ Fellows Program is a unique, interactive leadership development program for 501(c)(3) executives. The program provides training to nonprofit CEOs, from those new to the role to seasoned executives, as well as senior-level leaders poised for executive leadership. Senior-level leaders include those in roles who report directly to the CEO, manage a departmental budget and oversee staff.

The curriculum for the 9-month program centers around the HOLT’s Values Based Leadership™ model and other proven leadership concepts developed and implemented by HOLT CAT over the last 30 years. Other local experts provide training in communication, strategic planning, diversity, equity and inclusion and more.

Program Dates

Below are the HOLT Values-Based Leadership™ Fellows 2023-2024 Program Dates. We recommend that you add the class dates to your calendar now.

$1,995 – Payment plans available.

How Do I Apply

The application is accessed through our Learning Management System (LMS).  You’ll need to create a profile if you do not already have one.  We recommend you copy the application questions and go back into the system when you have time to complete the application in one sitting.

For more information, email learning@saafdn.org.

We will accept two applications from the same agency.  However, we recommend that you select one individual to apply.  We have heard from past participants that it is easier to speak freely and authentically when they are the sole person from the agency enrolled in the program.  If we receive two applications from the same agency, we will speak with both individuals to determine if they would feel comfortable having another staff member present.

The application is accessible through our Learning Management System.  When you click the apply now button, it will take you to our LMS.  You will need to create a profile if you haven’t used our LMS before.  That then takes you into our system.  You’ll find instructions there along with a link to the application.  We recommend that you screenshot the questions and prepare your answers before starting the application.  The application must be completed in one sitting.  We will also need a short bio and a JPG headshot.

We define a senior-level manager as someone who reports directly to the CEO and, in general, someone who also has budgetary and staff oversight responsibilities.  The intent is to prepare high level individuals for the CEO role.

To get the most value from this program, it is important to actively participate in and attend all sessions.  That said, we recognize that nonprofit executives may occasionally have conflicts that prevent attendance.  We strongly encourage you to add the dates for the program to your calendar now.  We also allow Fellows to complete the program and earn the certificate if they miss no more than 2 full days (or 12 contact hours).

Fellows may make payments using one of two payment plans.  Pay half upon registration and the other half will be charged to your credit card automatically at a later date, or Fellows can make four payments.  The initial payment and the additional 3 payments will be automatically charged to your credit card every 30 days.  All fees will be collected before the end of 2023.  Please note there is a $25 administrative fee to use this service.

This program is exclusively intended for CEOs/Executive Directors of a nonprofit organization and/or senior-level managers who report to the CEO.  The Area Foundation offers board training programs specific for board members, such as The Art of Board Leadership.
