Community Advisory Committees

Partner with the Area Foundation staff to advance equity through community investments.

Serving Together

The San Antonio Area Foundation welcomes individuals interested in engaging in our mission to consider joining one of our four Community Advisory Committees. Together, Community Advisory Committee members and Area Foundation staff collaborate to strengthen relationships with our nonprofit partners, review applications, and make recommendations for grant awards in our Annual Responsive Grant program.

Who Should Apply?

The San Antonio Area Foundation encourages any individual committed to building an inclusive and equitable San Antonio to apply. Individuals best suited to serve on one of our Community Advisory Committees:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to their community through professional, educational, and volunteer experience
  • Are familiar with one or more of the five impact areas and/or systems change
  • Bring a collaborative approach to their role

 

Individuals must be:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Residents of Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Medina or Wilson counties
  • Willing to dedicate time to reviewing grant applications and make recommendations for grant awards

Applications open annually in the fall and applications must be completed online through our grant portal.

Individuals are encouraged to apply for
one of our four Advisory Committees:

Cultural Vibrancy

Supports organizations and programming that ensure access to arts and cultural programming and encourage broad participation from all parts of our community; reflect the diverse cultures of the greater San Antonio area; and promote the value of arts and culture through arts education, advocacy, and the integration of arts and culture across sectors through innovative collaboration.

Livable and Resilient Communities

Support organizations, programs and initiatives that further access to affordable, safe, and stable housing; transportation; access to health and wellness resources; public spaces; public-private partnerships to create sustainable opportunities and address disparities in these areas across the greater San Antonio area; and platforms for community/stakeholder voice and leadership.

Successful Aging

Supports organizations and programs that address the needs of aging adults and their caretakers; recognize their ongoing contributions to diverse communities across the greater San Antonio area; provide opportunities for older adults to engage and connect; and build awareness of and collaboration between existing resources.

Youth Success

Supports organizations and programs that encourage the achievement of all youth within the community throughout a student’s education (cradle to career); address disparities across youth educational outcomes; provide equitable access to scholarships; and engage communities by strengthening youth leadership and providing educational activities for parent and caretakers.

Animal Services

Programs that enhance the quality of life for all animals, educate the community regarding responsible pet care, and enhance spay/neuter and adoption services.
