On July 4, 2025, our beloved daughter and sister, Katherine Ferruzzo, lost her life in the catastrophic flooding at Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas. Katherine was serving as a camp counselor—a role she took on with deep love and unwavering joy. She spent her final days doing what she was meant to do: caring for others, guiding young girls, and bringing light wherever she went.
In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the broader community. So many have asked how they can help, or how they can give in Katherine’s name.
While we are still in the early days of shaping its mission, we are beginning to raise funds for The Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation—a lasting tribute to her life, her values, and the people she loved most. If you’d like to contribute, you can do so directly through this fundraising page.
In the months ahead, our goal is for her Foundation to thoughtfully direct funds to areas where they can make the greatest impact—guided by the spirit Katherine lived out every day. A central focus will be supporting children, especially those with special needs, because helping them thrive was something Katherine was wholeheartedly committed to. During high school, she spent years volunteering in autism support classrooms and had planned to pursue a degree in special education at The University of Texas. That calling ran deep, and we want to honor it. At the same time, we remain open to supporting a range of causes that reflect the full scope of Katherine’s heart, her values, and the many lives she touched.
This is just the beginning, and we believe it’s a powerful way to keep her light shining—now and for years to come.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you.
Your support helps ensure that Katherine’s light continues to shine.
With love and gratitude,
The Ferruzzo Family
