In late April, the San Antonio Area Foundation convened the first meeting of our inaugural Professional Advisor Council (PAC), bringing together an accomplished group of attorneys, financial advisors, CPAs, wealth managers, and philanthropic professionals committed to strengthening charitable giving across our region.

The gathering welcomed PAC members alongside several of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and executive leadership team. President and CEO Nadege Souvenir shared the Foundation’s vision for deeper collaboration with the professional advisor community and the important role advisors play in helping individuals and families align generosity with long-term financial and estate planning.

The Professional Advisor Council was created to foster meaningful partnership between the Foundation and the professionals who guide philanthropy every day. Guided by David Simmons, the Area Foundations’ Wealth Advisor Relations Manager, the council discussed the PAC’s responsibilities and shared a collective commitment to advancing charitable giving strategies, strengthening community impact, and serving as trusted ambassadors for philanthropy throughout the San Antonio region.

“We’re excited about the conversations already happening around the table and about the relationships and ideas that will continue to grow throughout the year,” Simmons said. “This council represents something deeply meaningful for our region in bringing together professionals from across disciplines who want to share their expertise and help individuals and families create lasting community impact.”

The meeting also offered an opportunity for council members to provide feedback on the year ahead. Together, the group explored a roadmap that includes educational sessions about the work and initiatives of the Area Foundation as well as leadership and professional development opportunities. Council members expressed interest in learning more about local nonprofit organizations and emerging community needs. Throughout the year, the PAC will meet several nonprofit leaders and learn more about organizations and initiatives aligned with the Foundation’s impact areas.

Council members will also play an active role in helping shape future advisor resources and engagement efforts, including providing feedback on the Foundation’s website experience, brand strategies, and community initiatives. As part of this ongoing work, the Area Foundation is also preparing to launch a revamped Advisor Toolkit section of our website later this summer.

We are deeply grateful to our PAC members for sharing their time, insight, and leadership as we continue building a stronger culture of philanthropy across our community.
