The San Antonio Area Foundation recently hosted its graduation for the 2022 Equity Fellowship Cohort at the Maestro Center. This is the second graduating class of the Equity Fellowship Program.
A musical performance opened the ceremony.. Members of the Equity Fellowship joined in drum and chants, performing while guests in the audience clapped along. Patricia Mejia, Vice President for Community Engagement and Impact at the Area Foundation, and consultant Troy Harden, who directs the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute at Texas A&M University, led the speaker line-up.
Program participants then received a gift and a personalized certificate for completing the program.. Recognizing the sense of kinship amongst the cohort, group photos and conversation wrapped up the evening. The Area Foundation has a long history of providing professional development for nonprofit leaders, and this program is unique in uplifting leaders of color.
