
This course will build an understanding of non-profit financial statements and the information they contain, highlight different strategies to employ when budgeting for the future, explain the parts of Form 990, and convey how donors use Form 990 to determine which organizations they should support.
Objectives:
- Participants will learn which financial statements are included in an audit, what unrestricted, temporarily restricted, and permanently restricted funds are, how they are presented in financial statements, and the rules for using them.
- Participants will understand the importance of making budgets that show monthly activity, when to consider multi-year budgets, and how to build consensus when building a budget.
- Participants will learn the major components of Form 990 and how donors use the form to determine which organizations to support.
