From 2011 through 2020, the Area Foundation helped to increase graduation rates by supporting out-of-school time programs.
Through a competitive review process each year, the Area Foundation awarded High School Completion grants to organizations that:
- Provided evidence that students improve in the areas of school attendance, academic performance and/or behavior,
- Provided opportunities for students to engage in leadership activities and/or for families to participate in the program,
- Had a relationship with a public school teacher, counselor or administrator who provided a letter of support describing the program’s impact on student attendance, behavior and/or academic performance.
