Our library features access to the Foundation Directory to facilitate your search for grant opportunities.

The library is available for in-house use on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Foundation Directory

As a member of Candid, the Area Foundation is a member of a global network of more than 400 libraries, community foundations, and other resource centers that, for more than 50 years, have been bringing vital funding data and knowledge to the nonprofit community.  This includes access to the Foundation Directory Online, a comprehensive database and powerful search tool, that has information on over 240,000 U.S. Foundations.  Nonprofits can search the Directory for access to information about grantmakers and the grant they’ve made.

Free Access to One Year of the Foundation Directory Online Essential

Nonprofits that update their profile in Candid (formerly GuideStar) and earn a Gold Seal of Transparency or higher, can receive a free year of access to Foundation Directory Essential through Candid’s “Go for the Gold” promotion.

To qualify, you must be authorized to provide information about a 501(c)(3) nonprofit have an annual budget of less than $1 million and earn the Gold Seal of Transparency before Dec. 31, 2022.
