Empowering Future Health Care and Social Services Leaders
The Tito Villalobos Moreno Memorial Scholarship Fund opened March 2011 after the world dimmed as it lost a remarkable soul. Tito Moreno, born on January 19, 1941, in Lockhart, Texas, left an indelible mark on those who knew him. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication.
A life of service, Tito’s journey took unexpected turns. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, earning a Presidential Citation for his heroic rescue efforts during the Kodiak, Alaska earthquake. His alma mater, Highlands High School, witnessed his early achievements. Later, Trinity University awarded him a B.A. in music—a testament to his artistic soul.
Harmonizing the world music flowed through Tito’s veins. As a musician, writer, and arranger, he composed melodies that touched hearts. His shows resonated with audiences, and his songs became anthems of shared experiences. But Tito’s passion extended beyond the stage.
A compassionate heart in the twilight of his career, Tito redirected his talents. He devoted himself to the elderly and disabled, illuminating their lives with kindness.
Now, Tito Villalobos Moreno Memorial Scholarship Fund is being used to provide academic scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Blanco, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, or Wilson County, seeking a profession in the Health Care/Social Services Environment to continue invaluable work in the community.
