The Uvalde Strong Survivors Fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation comprised part of the more than $22 million given to support the survivors and honor the memories of those who were killed in the horrific mass shooting on May 24, 2022, at Robb Elementary School. Through the work of our partner, the National Compassion Fund, and the local steering committee in Uvalde, that funding has been distributed to 448 individuals who were traumatized and injured at the school or are surviving family members of the 21 people killed during the attack.
The San Antonio Area Foundation also granted over $450,000 in the first round of funding from the Uvalde Strong Fund to assist with school programs, mental health services and family support in the Uvalde Community. Because of your generosity, we will continue to bolster non-profits in Uvalde that provide these urgently needed services in the years ahead.
The Uvalde Strong Fund has raised an additional $1.6 Million, and it will remain open as a charitable vehicle for anyone seeking a trusted and impactful philanthropic partner to support Uvalde. We will initiate the second round of funding this year.
