After Harmon Dobson founded the first Whataburger in 1950, It didn’t take long for him to realize that if he valued people as family, he’d be successful not matter what. Today with over 50,000 Family Members across a 14-state footprint- and growing; we still believe our success Is rooted in family first. Established in 2003, the Whataburger Family Foundation (WFF) has funded over $19.5M in Hardship Assistance and Scholarships to Whataburger Family Members, including Franchise, and their immediate family members.
The WFF Hardship Assistance Fund has funded over $10.5M to provide emergency assistance for immediate unforeseen financial hardships associated with inclement weather, housing and shelter, food, utilities, medical needs, and funerals.
The Whataburger Family Foundation doesn’t just help during hard times- it helps through the most fun and formidable college years by assisting college students with continuing education costs, too. The WFF Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $8.9M toward feeding student success. We can’t say it enough- Our Family Members mean the world to us!
All donations come from generous Whataburger Family Members, suppliers, friends, and Franchisees. All requests for assistance are reviewed and approved by the San Antonio Area Foundation.
