Fitness and lifelong learning. That’s what participants at Oasis Center will have more of now that a new fitness room is open.

Foundation, a fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation, the fitness room will allow Oasis Center the freedom to offer more classes that promote healthy aging, active lifestyles and volunteer engagement.

The Oasis Center is a national nonprofit organization offering a network of programs in more than 250 communities. The San Antonio location opened in 1991 and has grown to more than 25,000 members and 280 volunteers. More than 900 classes are offered each year at more than 24 sites throughout Bexar County.

The Oasis Center’s mission and programming aligns with the legacy of John L. Santikos and the Area Foundation’s focus on successful aging, along with the Successfully Aging and Living in San Antonio (SALSA) initiative to create a community where older adults are respected, thrive and enjoy connected lives.
