Area Foundation’s Women & Girls Development Fund Recognizes Girls Empowerment Network
MEDIA ADVISORY
WHAT: The Women & Girls Development Fund (WGDF), a community outreach fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation, announces the Girls Empowerment Network (GEN) as its 2021 $10,000 annual grant recipient. GEN helps girls stay in school, get on track and reach their full potential.
The WGDF grant will help GEN expand its in-school program, Girl Connect, to schools throughout the Bexar County and San Antonio area. Girl Connect programming in schools consists of self-efficacy building groups for girls in grades 3-12 that meet weekly for the delivery of eight to 20 curriculum modules on their campus. The program is currently offered in Austin, Houston and Dallas – now adding San Antonio.
The Area Foundation’s Women & Girls Development Fund promotes philanthropy and supports nonprofit organizations serving women and girls in the San Antonio area through leadership development programs. Since 2012, the WGDF has distributed more than $210,000 to charitable programs.
