More than a dozen youth-serving local nonprofit organizations are among the San Antonio Area Foundation’s first-ever Future Ready Impact grantees.
A total of 16 nonprofits will receive $7.1 million cumulatively through six-year grants ranging from $11,000 to $100,000 annually (award amounts correspond to their respective budget size).
The grants stem from the Area Foundation’s participation in the Future Ready Bexar County Plan, an ambitious educational effort meant to boost the volume of high school graduates going to college and post-secondary credential or vocational schools.
The project, funded at the national level through Blue Meridian Partners, is a collaboration with various other leading local funders and project convener, UP Partnership.
“These innovative service providers will play a crucial role in helping our community reach the Future Ready North Star of 70 percent post-secondary enrollment by 2030,” explained Ryan Lugalia-Hollon, the Area Foundation’s Chief Impact Officer. “We are thrilled to be supporting them financially and we look forward to working closely together in the years ahead.”
This new round of grant funding will equate to expanded academic programs and services across our region, which in turn should contribute to increased enrollment for college and credential or vocational programs.
“This support could not come at a more critical time,” said Ana Acevedo, CEO of San Antonio Education Partnership, one of the Area Foundation’s inaugural Future Ready Impact grantees. “The students we serve are navigating rising college costs, shifting education policies and increasingly complex systems. Many of them are the first in their families to pursue higher education. This grant helps ensure they don’t walk that path alone.”
